Somehow we’re already into September which means the theater season is in full swing! We’ve got one last opportunity to take bottle donations this upcoming weekend. And don’t forget to mark your calendars for the upcoming auditions and shows taking place this month and next! Happy (almost) fall, y’all!
Donations can either be dropped off at the SCP Corner Playhouse, 12671 Dix Toledo Rd, Southgate, MI 48195 OR you can send an email to
southgatecommunityplayers@gmail.com to schedule a porch pick anytime! Feel free to spread the word and send this along to anyone that has bottles to donate!
Next up we have auditions for our Young Peoples’ Production of “Still Life With Iris” on Sunday, September 17th and Monday, December 18th at 6pm at the SCP Corner Playhouse.
There will also be auditions for a female teen vocal group.
And don’t forget to snag those
tickets to Steel Magnolias while you’re on our website! We’re just one month away from opening and with tickets already selling, you don’t want to miss out on seeing this terrific show starring Hannah Bogda, Kayla Chavez, Sydnee Corbin, Jeanne Edwards, Jema McCardell, and Josie Stec.

Hello, Friends of SCP!
We’ve got some great opportunities and events coming up at SCP in the next couple of months! But first, a big THANK YOU to all who dropped off bottles and cans last weekend for our bottle drive! We had a very successful day!
Our next Bottle Drive is scheduled for September 9th from 12pm-4pm at the Corner Playhouse. Don’t forget, if you can’t stop by please email
southgatecommunityplayers@gmail.com ATTN: Bottle Drive and we will come pick them up!
CONGRATULATIONS are in order for our Young Peoples’ Theatre production of Raise Your Voice! They have already SOLD OUT their entire run before opening night! Bravo to all involved!
Next up we have an opportunity for our teen actors aged 13-18. SCP will be holding auditions for “Still Life with Iris” on Sunday, September 17th and Monday, September 18th at 6pm at the Corner Playhouse, 12671 Dix-Toledo in Southgate. All those auditioning will be asked to read scenes from the script.
Production dates are December 1st and 2nd at 7:30pm and December 3rd at 2:30pm. Please visit our

SCP is also partnering with producer Michael Sitek and vocal director Lauren Crossman to create a pop vocal group composed of four female singers who are current high school students. The group will rehearse on a weekly basis to prepare for gigs around the Metro Detroit area in the late fall/early winter.
To audition, please prepare one minute of a pop song that shows off your vocal abilities to perform at auditions, or submit a video audition to

Callbacks are Sunday, September 17th at 1pm. If you are called back, you will be taught a harmony part and asked to sing with others auditioning.
