April 29, 2024 SCP On Stage Newsletter

Hello, Friends of SCP!

We have some wonderful events happening at SCP to close out our fantastic 2023-2024 season and get ready to jump into the 2024-2025 season! So grab your calendar and get ready to spend some time supporting a great community theater downriver.

We have AUDITIONS for our first show of the 2024-2025 season, “Still Life With Iris” taking place today and tomorrow at the SCP Corner Playhouse, 12671 Dix Toledo, Southgate. This show is being produced as a family show, so the cast will include both children and adults. Production dates are August 16,17, and 18.

“Still Life with Iris” is a story about a young girl named Iris who lives in the mythical, magical land of Nocturno, where everything in nature is made overnight by people whose memories are tied to special coats that they wear. Iris is taken away from her mother to live with a couple known as The Great Goods because they want the best of everything. They take away her Past Coat leaving her with only one of the buttons off of it. Iris wants to leave Great Island and find the little girl who she believed the button belongs to, so with the help of her two friends Mozart and Annabelle Lee she attempts to escape. She is eventually reunited with her coat and remembers who she is, is reunited with her family, and returns to Nocturno.
More audition information can be found on our website or our Facebook event

Next up, snag tickets to our 2023-2024 season closer, Neil Simon’s “Laughter on the 23rd Floor.” This hilarious show features the talents of Daniel Bartrum, Breann Blanton, Donald Corbin, Domingo Guzman, Kenny Konaszewski, Isabella Kroczaleski, Mattie Raybaud, Mike Stec, and Conrad Szybisty. Inspired by the playwright’s youthful experience as a staff writer on Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows, this ensemble comedy features all the attendant comic drama as the harried writing staff frantically scrambles to top each other with gags while competing for the attention of star madman Max Prince. Directed by Sydnee Corbin, assisted by Cortney Markham, and produced by Stephen Phillps. This show does contain strong language. Tickets can be purchased here
